Bhutan is a small landlocked country nestled between the two Asian giants’ china and India. It spent most of its history hidden from the world up in the Himalayan ranges, earning itself the name last shangrila befitting to its beauty and shrouded history of mythical legends and magic.

It was only recently that Bhutan opened up to the outside world. Presently Bhutan is made accessible both through air and land. It is home to one of the most difficult airport in the world, the only international airport in the country at the height of 7364ft from sea level at Paro.  Owning to its difficult terrain only the southern roads are open to the outside world. It can be reach through the southern cities of Phuntsholing, Gelephu and samdrupjongkhar.

Phuntsholing

The town of phuntsholing is the commercial hub of Bhutan. It is located about 170Km east of Indian national airport at Bagdogra. Your journey to Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan would take about 6 hours drive from phuntsholing.

Gelephu

Gelephu is located in the south-central region of Bhutan. It is yet another entry point for the travels. Guest journeying towards Thimphu would have to cross three districts covering approximately 250kms. The travel time between Gelephu and Thimphu is about ten hours throughout which you can enjoy beautiful scenery of sub-tropical area.

Samdrup jongkhar

Samdrup jongkhar is located in the south-eastern region of Bhutan and it shares it border with Assam. It is about three hour’s journey from Guwhati the capital city of Assam. Travelers desiring to visit whole of Bhutan are recommended to enter from there. Guest upon entering would be taken for a trip through five districts of Bhutan before reaching Thimphu.

Travel by air

Paro is the only international airport in Bhutan. It is located at the height of 2,225m from sea level and is surrounded by mountains as high as 4,876m. There are two airlines operating from Bhutan namely Drukair and Bhutan airlines.

We have flight destination from Bangkok, Delhi, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Bodg Gaya, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Guwahati, Singapore and Mumbai. Domestic air service is available from Yonphula, Bumtang and Gelephu.

If you are traveling from Delhi it is recommended that you take flight to Paro vie Katmandu as you would be able to enjoy the view of Himalayan Mountains which stands among the highest in the world.
